The TerminatorIn the year 2029, a computer called Skynet is fighting against a human resistance, after having nearly destroyed the rest of humanity in 1997. A cyborg assassin called 'The Terminator' is sent back through time to 1984 to kill the seemingly innocent Sarah Connor-a woman whose unborn son will lead the human race to victory in a bitter future war with a race of machines. Kyle Reese, one of the soldiers in this war, has been sent back in time to stop the Terminator. Keywords:

Critic Reviews of "The Terminator"New York Daily NewsOctober 26, 2015
You almost forget the film's flaws - like the cartoony look of the war-ravaged future. Here, the most absurd excursion is believable and we go along willingly - stopping now and then for a breath or a laugh.Hollywood ReporterOctober 03, 2015
The havoc makes for a genuine steel metal trap of a movie that may very well be the best picture of its kind since The Road Warrior.Time OutJune 15, 2015
Damn close to perfect.TIME MagazineMay 18, 2009
As for Schwarzenegger, he nicely fleshes out the convention of a soulless gun for hire. With his choppy hair, cryptic shades and state-of-the-'80s leather ensemble, he looks like the Incredible Hulk gone punk.Globe and MailMay 18, 2009
An efficient, cold-blooded sci-fi splatter movie that never makes the mistake of forgetting that on some level it is deeply ridiculous.Chicago ReaderMarch 01, 2007
As a souvenir of a kind of B-grade action cinema that has all but vanished, The Terminator should find a small place in the heart of every movie addict.LarsenOnFilmMay 18, 2017
Those nightmares we've all had about being chased by some relentless, unstoppable monster? This is the movie adaptation.FlavorwireMay 28, 2016
Much of Terminator's greatness is due to its low-budget aesthetic and lo-fi energy; perhaps out of necessity, Cameron's sense of storytelling has a lean efficiency that both he and the series have long since abandoned.GuardianJune 25, 2015
Getting the extraordinary physical specimen of Arnold Schwarzenegger for the lead was a stroke of genius and a stroke of fortune. Each of his pecs is the size of a bull's flank.Suite101.comOctober 30, 2014
Cameron maintains the heedless, non sequitur pace of a nightmare without resorting to cheap tactics. The frights of these nightmares, those cracked reflections of reality, hardly feel manufactured or inauthentic. And neither does "The Terminator."Radio TimesApril 01, 2014
Wittily written with a nice eye for sharp detail, it's hard sci-fi action all the way.Total FilmApril 01, 2014
A nerve-bludgeoning, relentlessly exciting action movie masterpiece.
