Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol

Commandant Lassard decides that the police force is overworked and understaffed, and he comes up with the idea of recruiting civilian volunteers to work side-by-side with his officers in a program called 'Citizens On Patrol'.Ā Although the community relations project has strong governmental support, a disgusted Captain Harris is determined to see it fail.

  • Critic Reviews of "Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol"

    Chicago Tribune
    October 22, 2014

Jim Drake is credited with the direction and Gene Quintano with the script, though they'd probably appreciate it if you kept it to yourself.

    Los Angeles Times
    October 22, 2014

What's so amazing about the Police Academy movies is that they keep being made even though they stopped being funny after the hilarious original.

    Variety
    March 26, 2009

Script is merely a collection of gags tied together by the slightest suggestion of a story.

    Time Out
    February 09, 2006

More of the same from the wackiest police force on the streets, and their newly recruited civilian helpers.

    New York Times
    May 20, 2003

The new players, like the original ones (who are still here in full force), are limited to one-shtick roles and are sometimes even more limited than that.

    Washington Post
    January 01, 2000

Just when you think American film comedy has hit the bottom of the barrel, it makes a supreme effort and keeps sinking.

    TV Guide
    August 03, 2009

Director Jim Drake keeps things moving so quickly, one barely has time to notice just how stale the jokes here are.

    Empire Magazine
    August 03, 2009

    Oh dear...oh dear, oh dear...

    eFilmCritic.com
    April 03, 2005

They really did just keep getting worse and worse.

    Low IQ Canadian
    July 16, 2004

Quite possibly the least essential movie ever made. A call to arming the elderly.

    About.com
    July 14, 2003

Not a highlight of the series. Loses the fun feel of incompetent cops in a complicated citizen plot.

    Movie Eye
    May 24, 2003

There's nothing remotely arresting about the recycled and pointless roguish antics being drudged up once again in another tired and tedious Police Academy sequel. This bunch should lock the cell door and throw away the kooky keys!
