    Moira MacDonald Seattle Times

    A rather silly, unbelievable thriller.

    Brad Wheeler Globe and Mail
    March 27, 2015

Filmmaker Nadda's stock-in-trade is restraint, but October Gale builds up to nothing much.

    Liz Braun Toronto Sun
    March 26, 2015

October Gale is a quiet thriller set in the wilds of Georgian Bay. It's an uneven movie with some odd jolts in the story, but the performances -- especially from Patricia Clarkson -- are noteworthy.

    Richard Ouzounian Toronto Star
    March 26, 2015

Writer-director Ruba Nadda is wonderful at building up suspense for the first half of her latest film. But once she's got our attention, she has nowhere to go with it.

    Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times
    March 12, 2015

A film that begins as a languorous study in grieving and shifts with screeching abruptness into a crime thriller.

    Susan Wloszczyna
    March 06, 2015

The best parts of this tepid thriller, which seems designed to actually lower audience's heart rates, arrive before the plot kicks in.

    Jared Mobarak The Film Stage
    February 27, 2016

When I wasn't laughing at the absurdity of where things go I was bored out of my mind waiting for long silent stares hiding nothing to finally turn into action.

    Susan G. Cole NOW Toronto
    December 18, 2015

A great performance by Patricia Clarkson - so what else is new? - can't save this strange thriller.

    Brian Miller Seattle Weekly
    November 12, 2015

October Gale is a pleasant place to visit, though a dull, predictable movie to watch.

    Todd Jorgenson
    May 01, 2015

... eventually ditches its character-driven approach in favor of far-fetched plot twists and melodramatic contrivances.

    Chris Knight National Post
    March 26, 2015

[Clarkson and Speedman's] strong performances carry the viewer over any narrative bald patches to a sudden and yet satisfying conclusion.

John Wirt Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA)
    March 21, 2015

Patricia Clarkson keeps 'October Gale' from completely sinking.
