The battle in Blue Thunder is less between Scheider's edgy police pilot Frank Murphy and his ultimate nemesis (Malcom McDowell), as it is between Murphy and the high-tech beast he's asked to pilot.Movie MetropolisAugust 02, 2009
As a cop-action flick this isn't bad, but it fits the mold so thoroughly that it feels more familiar than it should.Reno Gazette-JournalMay 19, 2006
I've always had a weakness for Blue Thunder, which seemed terribly exciting during my teen years. More than two decades later, I can admit that it's not a great picture. But I still like it.Filmcritic.comFebruary 09, 2006
still an invigorating and sardonic filmFantastica DailyOctober 24, 2005
Despite some big lapses in logic, Blue Thunder is a thrilling action-adventure with a smart, cynical attitude and a villain (Malcolm McDowell) you'll just love to hate.Spirituality and PracticeAugust 19, 2004
A cinematic rollercoaster ride.Juicy CerebellumJune 25, 2003
So bad it must be a Badham picture.eFilmCritic.comMarch 18, 2003

Scheider's quite great in this techno-helicopter thriller.
