Sterling the SAG-AFTRA, twice nominated for NAACP Images Awards child actor known for his early roles in Jericho, the Shield, ER and Criminal Minds, along with a host of other voice over assignments, recently featured in a national Angel Soft commercial, has evolved into the producer, director, and talent of his own production company and show, "Trash Talk with Sterling," a fast-paced YouTube sports show. Some of Sterling's early roles include "Our Family Wedding" starring Forest Whitaker, America Ferrera, Lance Goss, and Regina King. Sterling delivered a stunning performance in the low budget film, "Fit to Be Tied." In 2008, Sterling made his second, but larger splash onto the big screen in David E Talbert's comedy heist film, "First Sunday." This film broke box office records based on the earnings per screen and features Ice Cube, Tracy Morgan, Katt Williams, Loretta Devine, and Melinda Williams.Sterling shared, "this film was so much fun to create; Ice Cube, is really nice, and Katt let me sit in his Bentley." Sterling earned over $150 by collecting dollars for his swear jar each time an adult used profanity; he certainly contributed his part to cleaning up the language used on set, at least in his presence.Loretta commented that he was so well mannered and such a delight to work with. Dave Talbert shared, "Sterling took direction well and delivered big on screen performances; he definitely has something special and we'll all see more of him in the future."Later in 2008, Sterling had an opportunity to serve as a celebrity co-host with "American Idol's" Randy Jackson, where for the A Place Called Home organization; they entertained an industry packed dinner in Beverly Hills and helped generate over $1 million in donations for the organization. He rounded out the year by serving as a celebrity for the radio station KJLH 102.3's [owned by Stevie Wonder] annual "Snow Day" where under privileged kids are given a free day to enjoy snow, celebrity performances, collect autographs and meet Santa Claus.Who is Sterling and how did he get started in this business?Discovered on the streets of Beverly Hills while shopping with his mom just before his fifth birthday, Sterling has already spent half of his life as a SAG-AFTRA working actor on such national commercials as: Tide, Lunchables, Lowe's, McDonalds, Tylenol, Sprint/NFL, Audi, and others. His stage credits include musical productions: Vaudeville Frolic, New York, New York, Rock N Roll Grade School, and a stage presentation as President Barak Obama. Theatrically, he has credits from: The Shield, Santa Claus III, and Jericho. His voiceover work includes: "Everybody Hate's Chris," "Norbit," and "Jericho."His mom recalls how during Sterling's meeting with his first commercial agent, at Identity Kids, where he refused to have his photo taken and basically almost killed his career before it could begin. Luckily, his first agent believed that he had something special, so when weeks later he decided he was ready to have his photo taken, she was still interested. Turns out his agent was on the mark, as Sterling booked his first commercial in less than thirty-days, and within 60-days was being flown to Toronto, Canada where he filmed his Lunchables commercial.Always full of energy and extremely talented as an athlete; he has a track record as a skilled basketball point guard, played shortstop in baseball, defensive back in football and still finds time for golf, roller hockey, soccer and track and field - whew!On set, Sterling has received favorable nods from directors and the writing staff. It was the result of his early commercial work with Identity, which motivated his agent to have him introduced to a theatrical agent for consideration. Identity set up his introduction to The House of Representatives, where he was immediately signed. He had quick success with The House of Representatives, by landing a guest appearance on "The Shield." His next project was Santa Claus III, before landing his recurring role on "Jericho."Sterling's work in the recurring role of Sam Hawkins on CBSs "Jericho" is where he ended up filming fourteen of the 22 episodes in season one. Turns out he demonstrated his work ethic, and was noted by several directors as having a promising future. He returned in January 2008 when "Jericho" returned for its mid-season run and completed two more episodes. His work on "Jericho" nominated for an NAACP Image Award - drama series. His theatrical agent, Pam Braverman noted that Sterling proved that he had acting chops in his "Black Jack" episode, where he captivated the audience with his dramatic delivery.Interviewed by a "Jericho" fan, Sterling was asked what he wanted to do/be when he grows up, his type-A personality responded an athlete, entertainer, and multi-billionaire businessman. If actions are support of words, his attendance at the "Billionaire in Training" seminar when he was seven with his mom should speak volumes about his determination to make his entrepreneurial mark. Now he says, Denzel, Usher, LeBron, Deion Sanders, and Bob Johnson should all feel good, the future is in good hands... Sterling's on the rise! Show less «
