Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo was born on February 8, 1974, in Paris, France. He met his future band-mate, Thomas Bangalter when they were in school together in 1987. The two became interested in dance music after going to a club in 1992. That same year, they recorded a Beach Boys-influenced song under the name "Darlin'". Their song was hailed as "a bunch of daft punk" by a reviewer in a UK magazine. Guy-Manuel and Thomas took up the name "Daft Punk" in place of "Darlin'" and signed with Soma Records, a Scottish label. Daft Punk released the single "Da Funk" to much success, and released the debut album "Homework" two years later, which included singles such as "Da Funk", "Revolution 909" and "Around the World". Guy-Manuel didn't do much as Daft Punk split for a while and Thomas' alter-ego, Stardust, recorded the hit single "Music Sounds Better with You" in 1998. In 2001, Daft Punk released "Discovery", which included the four hit songs "One More Time", "Aerodynamic", "Digital Love" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". Daft Punk released "Alive 1997", a live-compilation album, that same year. D.A.F.T. (2000) includes De Homem-Christo and Balgalter's music videos from their album "Homework". Show less «
