B. R. Tatalovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia (former Yugoslavia). In 1988 (as a 21-year-old) he moved to the U.S., and settled in Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked various jobs: milling machinist, steelworker, cabinetmaker, home repairman... In his spare time, Tatalovic attended Cuyahoga Community College and learned photography and motion picture. During the late 1990s, he created various portfolios in fine-art photography, graphic design, and photojournalism (free-lanced late 1990s Serbian political protests). In 2004, Tatalovic enters "the biz", by producing his first experimental short film (on 16mm celluloid) at Cleveland State University's School of Communication. The film screens at the Cleveland Museum of Art, as part of special exhibition dedicated to emerging Cleveland filmmakers (2005 FastForward show). Tatalovic's student thesis film "The Bad Guy Speaks" (2005) premieres at 2006 Belgrade Short & Documentary Film Festival (Belgrade, Serbia). From 2007 to 2009, Tatalovic attends Chapman University's Dodge Conservatory of Film (M.F.A. in Producing; Hayde Scholar). His producing thesis film "Fiasco" (2009) screens at 35 international festivals, earning several awards, most notably 2010 EmmyFoundation Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. In 2012, Tatalovic releases "Dying 2 Meet U", his first independent narrative feature. The self-financed underground picture tests the boundaries of "zero-budget indie filmmaking" concept by employing local actors and film enthusiasts. The film screens at 2013 Scare-A-Con Horror & Pop Culture fan convention in Syracuse, NY, and earns Best Ohio Cinematography award at the 2013 Indie Gathering Film Festival. Today, Tatalovic works as an independent film producer, screen actor, and professor of creative arts at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Show less «
